Gideon, located on the eastern side of the River Sidon in the Valley of Gideon, named after Gideon, a Nephite patriot during the reigns of Kings Noah and Limhi. The anti-Christ Korihor tried to preach there with little success. Years later Samuel the Lamanite named the city as a place that would experience “wo” because of wickedness.
